PRESS RELEASE - Gary J. Hale, DEA and Army Veteran Run for District 28 for Texas House of Representatives.
My name is Gary Hale and I'm coming to you from my business office in Katy, Ft. Bend County, Texas. Today, I'm introducing myself as a candidate for the Texas House of Representatives in District 28 which includes Fort Bend County, Southern Harris County and part of Brazoria County.
I am a native of this state, born in Texas, raised in Texas.
I was raised on the border in Laredo and I grew up speaking Spanish. My family was of limited means and the most important thing that I inherited from my father was his encouragement to join the military and to get as much education as I could.
I joined the Army when I was a senior in High School and while the War in Vietnam was underway. I served a total of six years with military intelligence and later used the GI Bill to get my college degree.
After the Army I became a Police Officer in Laredo, Texas and was quickly recruited by the federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA.)
In 2010, I completed a 31-year federal law enforcement and intelligence career with the DEA during which I served in 10 different cities and countries, including El Paso, Washington, D.C., the U.S. Embassy Mexico City.
I transferred to Houston in the year 2000 and have lived in Katy-Ft. Bend since.
As is the case with many of you, I suffered through Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, Ike and Harvey. Both my home and office in Katy were under about 3 feet of water as a result of Harvey.
As a home-grown Texan and Ft. Bend County resident my interest in running for Congress is based on my desire to help keep Texas Strong and to help move Texas to the next level.
I have never run for or held political office, but I know how government works and I am sure that I can use that knowledge to benefit my friends and neighbors in this District.
I will be sharing more information about my background, strengths and my views as time goes by; but be assured that I am a Conservative who believes in patriotism and faith and that has a visionary and a can-do attitude about the future of our District.
